As we continue to expand and optimize our digital infrastructure, we are seeking a skilled Azure SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team.

As an Azure SQL Server DBA within the Data Strategy group of Corteva AgriScience's Seeds Division, specifically focusing on the Global Seeds Operations Business function, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems, ensuring the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This position requires a highly skilled individual with expertise in Azure SQL Server administration, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Azure SQL Server databases hosted on the cloud platform, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
  • Design, implement, and manage database backup and disaster recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
  • Perform regular database performance tuning and optimization, including index tuning, query optimization, and resource utilization monitoring.
  • Monitor and resolve database-related issues, including database errors, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to optimize database schema, SQL queries, and application performance.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices for database access control, data encryption, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities in coordination with the IT infrastructure team.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing and support.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in Azure SQL Server administration, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for critical database issues outside of regular business hours when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven minimum of 3 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator, preferably in an Azure environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure SQL Server VM deployment models.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, including storage, indexing, and query execution.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL scripting for automation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Azure Monitor, SQL Diagnostic Manager, or similar.
  • Familiarity with database security principles and practices, including role-based access control and encryption.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude towards identifying and resolving issues.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) deployments.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and other Azure data services.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and tuning of Azure SQL Server workloads.
