At Corteva Agriscience, you will help us grow what is next. We are seeking an Associate Research Investigator to develop and apply various modern analytical techniques to support toxicity testing for agricultural products, intermediates, metabolites, and impurities, under the supervision of a Principal Investigator.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate, maintain and be technically competent in various types of analytical instrumentation (e.g. LC/UV/radiochemical detector, LC-MS/MS, liquid scintillation counting, fraction collection, etc.) including calibration and systems qualification in order to provide accurate and reliable data.
  • Receive 14C radioactive test substance shipments in compliance with the NRC requirements.
  • Prepare 14C solvent stocks and analyze for radioactivity and radiopurity.
  • Prepare study doses with non-radiolabeled and 14C labeled test substances.
  • Analyze prepared study doses for radioactivity, radiopurity, and chemical concentration and enter results into DEBRA database.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine 14C labeled biological sample processing for matrices including urine, bile, feces, and animal tissues using different techniques (e.g. liquid extraction, SPE etc.) to meet project quality and timing needs.
  • Develop chromatographic methods to separate, identify, and quantify actives and metabolites in toxicity testing samples and utilize them for the GLP studies and reports.
  • Perform and document work under GLP and other appropriate regulatory guidelines.
  • Custodial duties for laboratories and various analytical equipment.

Skills You Need:

  • B.S. degree in chemistry or related field.
  • At least 3-years of experience in a GLP laboratory preferred.
  • Experience with 14C sample handling, method development and analysis using chromatography (HPLC, UHPLC) with scintillation and DAD detectors and modern mass spectrometric high resolution (LC/MS, LC-MS/MS) techniques.
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision in several projects; good interpersonal skills, demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; familiarity with (or ability to rapidly learn) computers and software packages from various instrument manufacturers such as DEBRA, LAURA, OpenLab, and Xcalibur.
