Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Investigator Discovery Chemistry to join our team at our Indianapolis, IN site. The Discovery Chemistry team at Corteva Agriscience plays a critical role in the design & synthesis of novel organic compounds for the sustainable protection of crops from pests, pathogens, and weeds. We are seeking an Associate Investigator who will be part of a multidisciplinary team that will design and explore small molecule leads at our Indianapolis Global Headquarters.

What You'll Do:

  • Under minimal guidance, conduct multi-step synthesis (mg to g) leading to a final product in an organic chemistry lab setting.

  • Collaborate with other synthetic chemists, biologists, biochemists, and computational chemists to explore structure-activity relationships (SAR) and optimize lead compounds.

  • Execute synthetic routes using modern methodologies and troubleshoot synthetic challenges.

  • Working with senior scientists, analyze and interpret biological data to guide rational compound design.

  • Document experimental procedures and results clearly and accurately.

  • Contribute to team discussions with scientific insight and creativity.

  • Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, adhering to all safety protocols.

What skills you need:

  • BS in Chemistry with 5+ or MS in Chemistry with 2+ years of relevant industrial or academic lab experience in organic synthesis.

  • Working proficiency in common synthetic techniques, purification methods (e.g., chromatography, crystallization), and compound characterization (e.g., NMR, LCMS).

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced research setting.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to formulate a work plan and manage daily workflow.

  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety and chemical hygiene practices.

What makes you stand out:

  • Demonstrated prior research experience (industry or academic) and examples of problem solving.  

  • Experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams and/or cross-functional projects.

  • Prior exposure to agricultural chemistry or discovery-phase research.

  • Enthusiasm for innovation and a collaborative mindset.
