Job Description:

Purpose:

The Research group, Crop Health R&D (CH R&D) from CortevaTM Agriscience, located in Cosmopolis/SP, is looking for an Associate Formulation Scientist to conduct research & development activities in the areas of formulation and process. The Associate Formulation Scientist leverages his/her formulation expertise to develop proprietary and innovative Corteva formulations with significant business impact for the company, provides technical support to our customers and key stakeholders, as well as supports the launch and introduction of new formulations. The candidate will define and conduct research in various areas of the project, using in-depth knowledge and proactive application of scientific principles, theory, and experimental design. In addition, the candidate will conduct research across multiple disciplines while developing and implementing technical solutions through hands-on experimentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understands customer needs / market trends
  • Keeps up to date with competitors' activities
  • Influences formulation design and development
  • Designs and develops new formulations that will be sold and/or produced in the Latin American region
  • Utilizes formulation technology expertise to act as a subject matter expert during technology transfer and implementation of new product launches in the region
  • Provides technical support for new formulations launches
  • Assesses formulation attributes and properties versus local customer needs, communicates potential gaps. Provides mitigation options. Highlights differentiating performance attributes versus benchmark products
  • Identifies and reports any technical issues
  • Provides quick response to customer complaints
  • Leads the investigation of product quality issues/problems and the resolution of product quality issues at the plant level, performs rework assessments and provides recommendations to the plant
  • Maintains university / third party contacts to keep technologies at the most advanced level
  • Acts as an EH&S (Environmental, Health & Safety) advocate for the working group, ensuring understanding and adherence to policies and procedures. Leads the team in promoting best practices, habits, and behaviors
  • Demonstrates experience in the use of experimental / computational / theoretical methods and data manipulation
  • Demonstrates presentations or reports that detail complex ideas into clear results and proposals; communicates properly to influence internal and external audiences
  • Work closely to support senior/lead scientists in the laboratory

 

Skills

  • Minimum 1-year technical research experience in biologicals, nutritional or related areas (e.g., agrochemical, pharmaceutical, veterinary, consumer goods, etc...).
  • Experience and familiarity with the development of formulated products.
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with senior scientists to drive small projects to completion (coordination, development, and delivery). Demonstrated significant involvement in designing studies, carrying out experiments, interpreting data, etc. to meet project milestones
  • Interpersonal, proactiveness and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively with different roles, other cultures, and time zones.
  • Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from multiple backgrounds, such as customers, colleagues, manufacturing, R&D, scale-up, and industrial experts
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • A solid track record of documentation
  • Experience and familiarity with development of formulated products.
  • Advanced level in English is mandatory
  • Ability to travel as desired

?Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biology, Food Engineering, Pharmaceutics
