The Analytical R&D Team (ARDT) within Product Science and Technology in Indianapolis, IN, USA, is seeking an Analytical Scientist to support formulation research and development through innovative analytical solutions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative crop protection and biological products using state of the art analytical tools. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of separation science, extensive experience in method development using LC, GC, and Mass Spectrometry, and strong technical problem-solving skills. Additionally, the ability to evaluate and implement new analytical technologies and methods to advance current analytical capabilities is essential. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate analytical methods to support early-stage formulation research, product development, launch, and post-launch activities.
  • Partner with formulation scientists through project teams to deliver analytical solutions and generate key data and information using HPLC, GC, LC/GC-MS and/or other instrumental analysis techniques.
  • Provide scientific leadership in driving the adoption of innovative analytical methodologies and technologies. Lead the research and development of new analytical capabilities, including high-throughput UPLC, LC-MS techniques.
  • Engage with key partners and stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of analytical needs and identify optimal analytical solutions and improvement opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate and document progress of projects and timelines to diverse team members and stakeholders.
  • Represent analytical science on cross-functional project teams and lead cross functional initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to junior scientists and team members and serve as a resource for developing best practices in analytical methodologies and problem-solving approaches.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry or related field with 3 or more years of relevant work experience is preferred; MS or BS with 5-10 years relevant experience will be considered.
  • Extensive experience in LC, GC and/or LC-MS techniques for analytical method development is required.
  • Prior experience with LC/MS, GC/MS and high throughput UPLC or LC-MS is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge in Analytical and Separation Science; strong technical knowledge of theory, application and relevant instrumentation is required.
  • Proficiency in utilizing scientific methodology to solve complex technical problems.
  • Ability to manage a broad scope of activities including but not limited to: conducting experiments, participating effectively in a team environment, assisting scientists from other disciplines with experimental design, and managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers, peers, plant personnel, R&D, scale-up personnel, and industrial experts.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, networking, and computer skills to extract, evaluate data, and make sound technical decisions.
  • Ability to communicate and document research results in reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear objectives and establish practical action plans.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a team environment.
