We have an excellent opportunity for an Agronomy Supervisor to join our team in Arica, Chile!
The Agronomy Supervisor will be responsible for the execution, planning and tracking of Agronomy activities in Arica Research Center. At the site, the position will be responsible for coordinating activities, workload planning, quality control with Kpi´s, personnel logistics, and interact with the supervisors of Agronomy team. In addition, the position will follow the program´s instructions to achieve planned outcome of assigned tasks, promoting at the same time a safe working place and teamwork. All activities are in coordination and collaboration with Crop team planning and execution leaders, Operations, and other programs, balancing priorities and resources.
Responsibilities
-Monitor planned field activities related to Agronomy sub-areas (pest control, irrigation & plant nutrition, and agricultural machinery operations), ensuring quality, safety, and excellent execution according to instructions and process protocols as projected in the annual budget. 50%
-Plan, estimate, and coordinate, with Agronomy specialists, staffing and monitoring of man-hours, and the purchase of inputs and equipment, according to metrics and area plans updated annually, optimizing resources to achieve production goals. 30%
-Plan and coordinate the land strategy. This will include up-to-date management of the land status and creating a historical record of the land, with the goal of obtaining immediate information for decision-making. 10%
-Consistently build, promote, and disseminate the Corteva culture over time, addressing issues of safety, ethics, respect for people, etc.
-In the Agronomy team, identifying gaps and potential risks in daily activities.
-Strictly comply with protocols and procedures to ensure the traceability of production materials in each of the supervised processes, making joint decisions when deviations occur.
-Supervise temporary and full-time staff effectively and efficiently, in accordance with established metrics and estimated costs for each process.
-Coordinate and supervise instructions for the execution of field activities to ensure excellent agronomy and compliance with good agricultural practices.
-Efficient and timely seasonal work plan to correct deviations from supervised processes.
-Purchasing plans for inputs and equipment aligned with estimated plans and metrics, all aligned with the estimated annual budget.
-Organization of tasks by subarea, prioritizing and emphasizing more complex tasks with a subsequent timeline, prioritizing crop yield.
Requirements
-Minimum of 5 years on agronomies managements - preferably in seed production on cereals/annual crops.
-University degree on Agriculture /Crops Science.
-Fluency in written and spoken English is desired.
-Advanced user of MS Office programs, ArcGIS software and precision agriculture technologies is a plus.
-Availability for 100% on site work.
