We have an excellent opportunity for an Agonomy Specialist to join our team in Arica, Chile!
The Agronomy Specialist will be responsible for the execution, planning, and tracking of field crop protection activities and integrated pest management (IPM) activities at the Arica Research Center. This position will be responsible for coordinating IPM, spraying, and dosing of products. All activities will be in coordination and collaboration with planning and execution leaders of field activities, priorities, and resources.
Responsibilities
-Plan IPM activities related to pests and plant diseases, and minor operational activities. Ensure high-quality results and on-time delivery to our clients. (30%)
-Ensure agronomic activities and conditions are optimal for production; coordinate IPM within the field plan activities based on plant needs and data-driven decisions. (25%)
-Interact with the Agronomy Supervisor and Agronomy Lead to review expected workload and plan accordingly. Consider appropriate resources (supplies and workforce) to achieve production demand. Stay within budget and look for cost reduction opportunities. (20%)
-Track workload using appropriate tools, databases, and software to control/predict deviations along the production process. Report production information and projected workload routinely. (15%)
-Ensure RMS and safety procedures are followed in all processes. (10%)
-Identify and resolve any agronomic (IPM) deviations that compromise plant health in the field crops.
-Aim for a balanced workload to reduce production process deviations/variability downstream.
-Maintain constant traceability of samples with appropriate procedures to ensure consistent purity and integrity in our products for end users.
-Constantly monitor production results to perform target control and measure target accomplishment.
-Understand and learn the operation of equipment, machinery, and automated structures used during production processes and be prepared to resolve issues rapidly.
-Decide the priority of work activities.
-Manage resources accordingly, optimizing labor force without affecting production and staying on budget.
-Identify gaps and potential risks in daily activities within the Agronomy team.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years in crop protection and IPM, preferably in seed production of cereals/annual crops.
-University degree in Agriculture/Crop Science.
-Fluency in written and spoken English is desired.
-Advanced user of MS Office program is required, and other production/statistical software is a plus.
-Availability for 100% on-site work.
