You Are Your Only Limit

No matter your circumstances, go after what you want! If you are stuck, you can always turn things around and pursue something you are passionate about. With that being said, sometimes challenging or not so fun roles are what prepares us for our next step. Tough experiences can end up teaching us valuable lessons that we may need 10 years down the road.

Continued Education

Just because you have a degree or certification does not mean you are done learning. Take advantage of any learning opportunity that comes your way such as attending conferences, webinars, or unique trainings. Better yet, make sure you put what you have learned into practice! Continued education can even come from your manager or a mentor, don’t ever limit yourself and remember to keep learning because it will make you a more valuable employee at the end of the day.

The Whole Package

When job hunting, make sure you do your research and thoroughly go through an offer if you receive one. Going after a job just because of the salary or location might leave you disappointed in the end. Understand the importance of benefits and company culture to make sure the job is a good fit for you.

Red Flags

Not paying attention to any red flags during an interview can also be detrimental and cause regrets. Sometimes we panic and think we need to find a job right away no matter what it is, but don’t be afraid to decline a position and wait for something better to become available if you feel bad vibes from the beginning. Don’t hesitate to talk to someone that already works at the company or does the job you are applying for to get a feel for the role you are applying for or the company culture.

Be Patient

Starting a new job is never easy! There is always a learning curve when starting at a new company or in a new role. Learning takes time so don’t stress if you don’t get the hang of it right away. It is easy to feel like you are in over your head but take a deep breath and remember you do not have to absorb all the information in the first week. Ask questions and take notes!

We all have career regrets, and hindsight is always 20/20. But that shouldn’t stop you from learning and continuing to move forward.
