Job Description:
The Head of Retail Controlling and Accounting-CWHC has direct oversight of financial controlling, working capital management, financials, budgeting, and reporting for the CLAAS-owned retail dealership, Canada West Harvest Centre (CWHC) in Canada.
- Develops budgets and forecasts including monthly, yearly, capital, and long-term planning. Leads the annual budgeting process, with local department heads developing realistic and achievable budgets.
- Analyzes budget to actual variances of the same.
- Regularly monitors financial information to ensure financial data has been recorded accurately. Ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial data reported.
- Oversight of the CWHC Accounting Staff’s work while mentoring excellence in financial management for the business entity.
- Ensures the preparation and consolidation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with local and international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, etc.)
- Prepares month-end closings on a timely basis.
- Conducts detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Oversees the rolling forecast process, regularly providing updated projections and variance analysis to senior management.
- Responsible for preparing and making recommendations for the P&L, Balance Sheet, and other pertinent financial reporting.
- Develops financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Designs, implements, and monitors effective internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Coordinates with external auditors to facilitate smooth and efficient audit processes. Interacts with internal and external auditors in completing audits and tax returns.
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or closely related field required.
- 5+ years of work-related experience as a controller or senior accounting manager.
- Minimum of five years leading employees, including training and staff development; Ability to give employee feedback in verbal and written form succinctly and timely.
- Canadian accounting certifications desired, not required.
- Extensive experience in accounting and financial controlling, with a strong understanding of international accounting standards as well as a strong knowledge of general accounting practices, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strong ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams. Excellent ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
- Proven ability to align financial goals with organizational strategy and drive long-term financial
- Capability to drive and manage change initiatives to improve financial processes and systems.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are essential. Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency. Experience with and knowledge of SAP is very desirable.
