Sr Inspector 

 

 

Bayer is looking for a fully qualified and certified inspection professional capable of conducting pressure vessel and piping inspections according to the KC site Mechanical Integrity program with minimal oversight. They will also be responsible for managing the KC Site MI program in conjunction with MI Engineers. While providing technical expertise to the site with some regional participation. The Sr. Inspector will also act as a mentor for all site Inspectors.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Sr. Inspector, are to:  

  • Conduct ASNT Level II VT, PT, MT and straight beam UT examinations as necessary across the site; ?
  • Conduct API 510, API 570 , and API 653 Inspections.;
  • Conduct critical coatings inspections (ex. vessel or tank linings in immersion service);
  • Assign inspection work to inspectors and responsible for ensuring all vessel and piping inspections are completed as required per the KC Site MI Program.;
  • Review, improve, and approve changes to the KC Site MI Procedures and standard work processes; ?
  • Conduct vendor inspections and audits depending on project or business needs;?
  • Review past inspection reports, input inspection reports for review and run queries in the MI software;
  • Create recommendations in the system to address inspection findings;
  • Manage special emphasis inspection programs with medium to high complexity and engages in user discussions to define and implement user requirements;
  • Execute inspection assignments of medium to high complexity, developing solutions for defined problems.?
  • Provide technical expertise for capital projects within site with some regional participation;?
  • Develops alternative solutions to problems, handles problems independently;
  • Demonstrates strong technical and regulatory expertise and ability to adapt to changing circumstances;
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall goal of the position.

 WHO YOU ARE

 Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Valid Driver's Liscense;
  • API 510, API 570, and API 653 Inspection Code Certificates?;
  • Extensive experience in process equipment inspection;
  • Administrator level skill with relevant Mechanical Integrity software;?
  • Knowledge of relevant national standards in the area of process equipment design;?
  • Good English language skills, written and oral;
  • Good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills?;
  • Ability to participate as a member of cross-functional teams and to participate in multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including ability to interface with people at different levels of management engineering, suppliers and internal customers;
  • Internal candidates must be a qualified A-Mechanic.?

Preferred qualifications,

  • HS & 12+ years?
  • Must be willing and able to obtain:AMPP Level II Coatings Inspector certification?;
    • AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) Certification?;
    • At least one of the following certifications: AWS Senior Certified Weld Inspector, AMPP Level III Coating Inspector, National Board Commissioned Inspector.
