Senior Plant Engineer - Kansas City, Missouri 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Plant Engineer, are to:

 

  • Provide key equipment support for plant area process operations;
  • Identify, evaluate, specify, and select process equipment to ensure the reliable and safe operation of the assigned assets; 
  • Support larger, complex turn-arounds of the assigned assets; 
  • Plan, execute, and monitor multiple basic budget and multiple mid sized investments;
  • Coordinate, schedule, and review all plant safety and reliability inspections;
  • Plan, design, and execute necessary repairs and/or modifications to resolve discrepancies identified by the Mechanical Integrity Program;
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis, asset criticality analysis, and failure modes and effect analysis studies and develop spare parts strategies to improve reliability and Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of the plant area equipment; 
  • Work with external suppliers, local vendors, and the on-site stores to manage spare parts strategy and ensure appropriate spares inventories, while effectively utilizing Bayer resources;
  • Evaluate materials of construction of process and utility equipment to improve reliability, operability, and performance;
  • Responsible for troubleshooting asset and process problems; responsible for identifying, evaluating, and implementing equipment and process modifications to eliminate deficiencies and bottlenecks; 
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements and engineering standards regarding equipment and material technology;
  • Participate in process hazards analyses;
  • Support incident investigations as required; 
  • Develop and maintain the following equipment documentation: equipment descriptions, spare parts, equipment lists, histories, manuals, flow sheet documentation, drawings, etc;
  • Provide equipment-specific technical training on the operation, and maintenance of process equipment in process operations;
  • Support start-up of unit operations; improves equipment reliability and performance; 
  • Foster experience exchange and promotes knowledge transfer with other Plant Engineers to enable best practices in plant engineering area.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline;

 

  Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of six years industrial manufacturing experience;  chemical process industry experience.

    • Minimum of six years industrial manufacturing experience with a Bachelors’ degree OR four years of experience with Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline;
    • Experience managing budgets, planning, and overseeing or executing projects;
    • Demonstrate leadership skills with ability to steer a team;
    • Effective communication, interpersonal, collaboration, project management, and relationship building skills;
    • Good knowledge of engineering tools and skills (Recommended and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices);
    • Good understanding of supporting processes associated with the operations and maintenance of a production plant;
    • Willingness to travel as required (< 10%);
    • Intermediate computer skills.

 

Position will be located at the Kansas City, Missouri location and eligible for domestic relocation benefits.
