PROJECT ENGINEER

PURPOSE

This position provides daily tactical direction, applies technical skills, & resolves routine issues throughout the project execution process. You will ensure the safe, efficient, productive, and cost-efficient project design and implementation of capital projects throughout the Active Ingredients manufacturing facility.  You will provide the technical knowledge and is accountable for planning, coordination, and execution of technical activities needed to support capital execution in manufacturing operations.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Provide engineering project management to capital projects, from project initiation through completion;  Responsible for moderate project complexity and moderate project load;
  • Develop accurate project cost estimates, identify cost-savings, and provide updates to management;
  • Lead project reviews and assure thorough action item follow-up;
  • Develop clear and concise appropriation requests, communicating and presenting background and justification;
  • Select appropriate vendors, soliciting bids with Purchasing;
  • Assist Construction Field Coordinators with project implementation requirements:
  • Visit job sites to review work activities, safety, and construction;
  • Accurately document project files and closure information in a timely manner;
  • Ensure systems and equipment are designed and installed in accordance with Bayer and regulatory standards with life cycle cost considered;
  • Provide input and engineering assistance to site personnel to facilitate application of plant and corporate standards, safety procedures, and other regulatory requirements;
  • Shares engineering workload required for routine project execution;
  • This position supports the Manufacturing Engineering Group on ongoing projects through individual project execution assignments and contributes to successfully delivering projects with a high degree of quality, on time, and within budget, in achieving successful project startups;
  • Responsible for project execution in targeted units of a plant;
  • Requires high level direction, but capable to direct self in identifying work steps;
  • Limited oversight required for tasks in support of routine operations;
  • Fully responsible for scope, budget, schedule, and quality of own projects;
  • Within given project scope, budget and timeline, the position organizes work as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline;
    Engineering experience preferably in a plant operation function.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS   

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and 4 years of experience;
    M.S. Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
