What you’ll do:

Packaging Technicians are responsible for the safe operation of chemical processing & packaging equipment. Technicians use knowledge of process and operating procedures to control, monitor, and troubleshoot equipment used to package crop protection products. Product transfers and equipment adjustments are made both manually and using process control systems.

 

 Key Tasks:

  • Operate, maintain, and repair packaging equipment as well as troubleshoot problems associated with equipment, process, or systems;
  • Provide Leadership and direction to contractor employees on shift to ensure all work tasks are completed efficiently and safely according to Bayer policies;
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and preventative maintenance on packaging equipment;
  • Complete equipment repair notifications and work directly with Maintenance Technicians on any repairs requiring their assistance;
  • Document actions and adjustments during shift to ensure a complete and safe shift exchange;
  • Document and complete safety, quality, environmental, and inventory control reports;
  • Conduct equipment isolations and issue work permits to contractors and maintenance and monitor progress through completion of work;
  • Assist in preparation, review, and approval of key process documentation (i.e., operating, cleanout, start up, shutdown procedures, process flow and instrumentation diagrams;)
  • Complete required safety, quality, product sampling, and environmental checks and follow up on any deficiencies;
  • Mentor, teach and provide developmental coaching to peers and contractor operators. Set and complete personal development goals;
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by supporting and completing 5S practices as well as all area and plant policies and procedures.

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

 About You:

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least that level in reading comprehension, writing, and math;
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use information technology systems and applications;
  • Personal focus on safety, teamwork, and adaptability;
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to give and receive feedback in a professional manner;
  • Able to work without direct supervision in a diverse team environment.
  • Able to work rotating shift.

 

Preferred Qualification:

  • Two years manufacturing, agriculture operations experience, Military, or similar experience;
  • Ability to use information technology systems and applications;
  • Forklift operation;
  • Ability to use various hand tools;
  • One year operating/repairing packaging equipment or related equipment;
  • Ability to troubleshoot and complete mechanical repairs or preventive maintenance on equipment;
  • Operate Computer Control Systems (PLC & Delta V;)
  • Leadership of a team or small group.
