North America Product Devp Cap Hub Lead 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, North America Product Development Capability Hub Lead, are to:    

 

  • Strategically engage with unit and other leaders to comprehend current and future product and technical strategies.
  • Use this insight to strategically determine current and future technical talent needs, vital for delivering over 350 new products across corn, soybean, canola, wheat, and cotton valued at 10B Euro of NPV. This contains key trait and product development for several blockbusters (short corn, soy HT4/5, and hybrid wheat).
  • Act as a visionary and coach to guide talent development aligned with strategic goals.
  • Provide coaching technical, strategic, and product knowledge to the Capability Center, strategically contributing to key global Precision Breeding/Breeding/R&D areas.
  • Ensure the delivery and implementation of the next generation of technology across the pipeline.
  • Lead and contribute to Global Breeding strategies and Long-Range Plan (LRP), ensuring alignment with high-level functional and commercial goals.
  • Strategically coach and guide leaders in the unit, fostering growth opportunities and strong succession planning.
  • Ensure leadership and organizational development, including growth opportunities for key leaders and strong succession.
  • Ensure the Capability Hub's technical capabilities and expertise are industry-leading, strategically positioning the unit as a pioneer in the field.
  • Collaborate with unit leads to strategically understand talent performance, demand, and flow.
  • Engage strategically with key universities in the region to coach and guide future talent needs, ensuring Bayer is viewed as a strategic talent destination of choice Member of various L3 leadership units across commercial and product supply teams.
  • Ensure units are delivering on the pipeline and meeting key unit KPI’s on resource utilization, pipeline delivery, and PCM3+ product performance
  • Ensure to drive HS&E, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights focus and culture across the Unit in the region..

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

 Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • MS degree in Plant or Animal Breeding, Quantitative or Statistical Genetics, Data Science or related;
  •  5+ years of experience in leading teams with demonstrated leadership effectiveness in driving technical strategy, innovation and developing people
  • Strong knowledge of advanced breeding technologies, advanced analytics and information technologies, genomics and/or quantitative genetics with a proven track record of driving innovation
  • Strong ability in collaborating and building cross-functional partnerships to solve business or technical problems
  • Demonstrate and embrace  leadership attributes within the Capability Hub and with peers and colleagues across Bayer Crop Science

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • PhD degree in Plant or Animal Breeding, Quantitative or Statistical Genetics, Data Science or related fields
  •  8-10+ years of technology leadership experience;
