Mining Environmental Engineer Intern 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Development of yearly reclamation and remediation plans;
  • Water sampling and logging of data;
  • Assist in establishing native flowers, habitat, and food plots on various active and legacy mine sites;
  • Assist in storm water inspections and plan updates;
  • Involvement in planning, installation, and maintenance of erosion control best management practices;
  • Collect soil & vegetation samples from an ongoing field study;
  • Involvement in agency inspections;
  • Operation of reclamation equipment;
  • Work with GIS ArcView;
  • Surveying with a Trimble GPS;
  • Assist other department personnel as needed.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • Students must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Environmental Engineering (or related field) and have completed their sophomore year by the start of their co-op or internship;
  • In addition to current enrollment interns must work at the Soda Position.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Desired Coursework: ·

    • Watershed Management, Range-Wildlife Relation, Revegetation 20, GIS & GPS, Soil/Environmental Chemistry, Soil & Water Conservation, Environmental Law, Elements of Mining, Project Management, Environmental Engineering.
