Maintenance Technician (Muscatine, Iowa) 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Maintenance Technician role located at the Muscatine, Iowa facility will perform a technical role focusing on scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance. The Technician will be able to perform troubleshooting and repairs of industrial equipment, including pumps, agitators, gearboxes, compressors, chillers, valves (ball, control, diaphragm, butterfly, etc.), perform seal and bearing replacements, transmitters, control valves, flow meters, and electrical equipment. Incumbent will demonstrate attention to detail, organizational skills, initiative, and communication skills while working in a team environment.

 The primary responsibilities of this role, Maintenance Technician, are to: 

• Perform troubleshooting and repairs of industrial equipment;
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings including P&IDs/EFDs, single line drawings, schematics, Standard Operating Procedures, etc. and the ability to accurately maintain equipment repair/modification documentation and update equipment files;
• Assist in determining root cause of failure and work with engineering to develop reliability resolutions;
• Willingness to learn specific details of the plant’s equipment and work with maintenance and production to complete work both safely and efficiently;
• Increase skill level and obtain certifications associated with the position and the maintenance reliability field as required;
• Initially complete the Maintenance Training Program to ensure familiarity with the design, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial systems;
• Demonstrate attention to detail, organizational skills, initiative, and communication skills while working in a team environment;
• Mentor maintenance trainees: provide developmental coaching to peers and set personal development goals;
• Perform 5S, housekeeping activities and other duties as assigned to assure a safe working environment.

WHO YOU ARE           

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED;)
• Basic knowledge of industrial maintenance;
• Strong focus on safety, teamwork, and personal flexibility;
• Ability to work without direct supervision in a diverse team environment;
• Strong verbal communication skills with basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Three to five years Mechanical Maintenance experience;

• Degree or Certifications in Mechanical related field;
• Understanding of maintenance disciplines;
• Ability to read and understand engineering flow diagrams;
• Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, refrigeration, lubrication, rigging, and other related systems, along with performing preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and following all mandated procedures/regulations related to those systems;
• Manufacturing experience in a chemical manufacturing environment;
• Knowledge in the Vibration Analysis Field;
• Technical training in Industrial Electricity or Industrial Instrumentation
• Ability to understand and use the following: Test equipment, UPS systems, Variable Speed Drives, demonstrate an understanding of bonding and grounding, demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, replace heat tracing.
