Integrated Pest Management Intern 

PURPOSE

Assist the Integrated Pest Management team in conducting all aspects of a study involving Peregrinis Maidis (corn planthopper) and Maize Mosaic Virus.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

• Assist the Bayer Maui Integrated Pest Management team and North Carolina State personnel with data collection (leaf tissue, insect collection, etc).
• Assist in data collection and analysis in terms of crop scouting, pest pressure, and viral symptoms.
• Assist in tracking the movement and trends of Peregrinis Maidis species on two of Bayer’s research farms on Maui.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Agronomy, Horticulture, Entomology, Plant Pathology, or other related field of study.
• Competent in most Microsoft office suite tools (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc).
• Proficient in taking field notes and recording data.
• Works well in a team atmosphere but also can take initiative in working independently with some tasks.
• Will be trained and compliant with all Worker Protection Standard (WPS) laws, state and federal regulations.

This position is based onsite in Maui, Hawaii.
