Electrical Specialist (Muscatine, Iowa) 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Electrical Specialist are:

 

  • Understand, follow, and participate in the upkeep of Bayer electrical norms, practices, standards, guidelines, and procedures staying current with industry standards, technology, and improved functional safety methods;
  • Partner with plant E/I Engineers to assist in process troubleshooting, support project implementation, ensure documentation accuracy, and ensure timely completion of other area E/I activities;
  • Develop expertise in packaging production equipment, provide technical support, and implement timely corrective actions to deliver packaging process improvement;
  • Support Production and Maintenance technicians in process troubleshooting and as a resource during the completion of maintenance and preventative maintenance activities- which may require some off-hour support;
  • Able to identify and recommend modifications to equipment and systems to improve their efficiency and reliability;
  • Create and modify documentation related to process operation, process equipment, and safety as needed – including E&I drawings, equipment files, SAP equipment data, and engineering flow diagrams/P&ID diagrams;
  • Promote continued development of self and area personnel through training, mentorship, and real-time constructive feedback;
  • Partner with plant Maintenance Go-To to validate E/I maintenance notifications.

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High Scholl Diploma or GED

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or technical associate degree with three years relevant electrical experience or High School Diploma with six years relevant electrical experience;
  • Minimum of six years of Industrial Electrical, Industrial Instrumentation, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) experience;
  • Experience in PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Programming (Allen Bradley;)
  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics machine drawings and interpret complicated specifications;
  • Understand VFD (Variable Frequency Drives) functions, operations, and programming;
  • Ability to troubleshoot wiring and complete Input/Output checks;
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical process systems;
  • Knowledge of the proper use of tools required to troubleshoot, repair or assemble equipment systems;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with Plant personnel, support functions, Site leadership, vendors, and contractors;
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar system;
  • Extensive prior maintenance experience demonstrating knowledge and ability;
  • Computer Skills (Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, Excel.)
