Seed Processing Research Associate

The Research Associate will primarily be responsible for supporting onsite seed processing operations and field nursery activities at the Carman, MB site.

 

Bayer is committed to a flexible hybrid working environment. This is a 12-month employee term position, based out of Carman, Manitoba.

 

What you will do:

  • Provide multi-disciplinary and seasonal support to canola seed processing operations including shipping, receiving, inventory, seed treating and packaging and process optimization
  • Supervision and training of temporary contract employees performing seed processing or field harvesting operations
  • Assist in various aspects of the canola and soybean field nursery programs including equipment preparation, field maintenance, agronomic note collection, and seed processing
  • Actively participate in the site safety, quality management and process improvement programs
  • Maintain equipment and facilities for safe and effective operation

 

Who you are:

  • Diploma or BSc in Agriculture or similar field with minimum 1 year related experience
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and/or seed research methodologies
  • Previous growthroom, plot research or seed processing experience
  • Effective English verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Given the nature of the work, flexibility to work overtime if needed during peak periods in spring and fall seasons
  • Willing to work with pesticide
  • Valid Manitoba driver’s license

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in supervising or coaching others
  • Possess a Manitoba pesticide applicators license or have the ability to obtain one
  • Knowledge of precision farming equipment and applications
