Process Generalist
The Process Generalist supports and enables all onsite process operations using inputs from internal and external resources to ensure the site personnel have a clear understanding of the production goals, materials, standards, and objectives required to meet the needs of customers.
This is a permanent position based out of the Coaldale, Alberta site.
What you will do:
- Set and maintain quality and production standards, and act as the conduit for all feedback, compliance, production schedule, and adjustment from support teams to the sites and back out to external partners
- Support the safe and timely delivery of quality supply based on production schedules while maintaining an efficient operation. Perform duties in a manner that support overall site Key Metrics to including Safety, Quality, TIP (total individual volume performance), TOP (total overall volume performance), and cost efficiency
- Maintain a strong relationship with the team and other site and site support personnel to support operations at the site and resolve production challenges
- Adapt quickly to changes in the business, courageously face new challenges and opportunities, ensure the highest level of compliance and safety around them to the quality and safety standards are achieved in all activities
- Provide timely mechanical support for seed treating machinery where needed to ensure the best customer experience possible
- Mentor less experienced Production technicians and coach employees across the site on basic operations and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with all hazardous work permits and site environmental permits
- Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 5S practices to maintain an environment conducive to work, aligning with the labeling and ordering of tools
- Utilize Focused Improvement (e.g., 5WHY’s) techniques to contribute to the improvement of processes and site safety program
- Initiate periodic communication with Planning, Forecasting, and production teams to ensure alignment across all production teams
- Support the development and sharing of all relevant Key Performance Indicators and other relevant information on visual boards and networks to drive teamwork and ensure the highest level of product quality to enhance Customer Experience
- Participate in DDS (Daily Direction Setting) meetings and follow through on safety-related issues
Who you are:
- Either a Bachelor’s degree in a preferred discipline: Business, Engineering, Agriculture, Supply Chain, Manufacturing with 2 years of relevant aligned experience; OR a High School Diploma and 7 years of experience in managing or supporting management of manufacturing operations
- Valid Driver's License in good standing
- Ability to critically think about the business
- Demonstrated ensuring the highest level of compliance around quality and safety standards
- Proven adaptability to quickly make changes when faced with new challenges and opportunities
- Demonstrated courage, candor and initiative in past assignments
Preferred:
- MBA
- Experience in lean manufacturing systems
- People coaching experience
- Experience in the agriculture industry
- Experience in seed manufacturing or seed treating/packaging
