Geismar, LA (Hybrid)

We are looking for a Site Controller to join our Care Chemicals team in Geismar, LA. This role will provide support to our Geismar, LA, Theodore, AL and East Setauket, NY sites. This position will be based in Geismar, LA with some travel to Theodore, AL and East Setauket, NY.

As the Site Controller, you will be the first point of contact for financial information and guidance for the site leadership teams. You will ensure transparency for decision-making and be a trusted advisor providing cost and accounting guidance and solutions. Additionally, you will be responsible for the accuracy of production orders and product costing, monitor site fixed cost spending on a monthly basis as well as ensure compliance with all appropriate guidelines. Furthermore, as part of the global operations controlling team, you will also play a significant role in consolidation activities of all Care Chemicals site reporting for the Americas Region.

As a Site Controller, you create chemistry by...

  • Serving as a key member of the Geismar, Theodore and East Setauket site leadership teams and providing strategic financial direction and support
  • Creating and maintaining cost transparency by providing analyses as well as timely and accurate reporting for decision making and meaningful insight into site performance for the Site Leadership Teams and business stakeholders
  • Performing month end closing responsibilities and directing the annual fixed cost budget plan and monthly forecast process for the sites
  • Performing a monthly fixed cost review, investigating and communicating variances to forecast for all site costs, such as direct costs, indirect allocations, utility rates and other charge outs to the site's business partners
  • Collaborating with site personnel to review process orders and ensuring correct material ledger cost absorption
  • Reviewing and reporting the results of annual physical inventory observations, analyzing discrepancies and posting adjustments
  • Driving and supporting an environment of continuous improvement. You will identify opportunities to drive simplicity and automation in reporting, reduce complexity and support the realization of cost savings opportunities and efficiency gains.
  • Interpreting, communicating, and ensuring the application of financial policies including supporting internal and external audit requests.
  • Ensuring that the site is compliant with all required policies and procedures, identifying potential risks and completing government financial information surveys
  • As part of the global operations controlling team, coordinating consolidation activities around full site reporting for the Americas Region and assisting in the Americas region monthly forecasting process of Fixed Manufacturing Costs, Idle, Spend Variance and Shipping costs to provide updates and explanations to the GBU partners.


If you...

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in a financial discipline such as Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • Bring at least 6 years of experience in finance, accounting, or controlling, with preferred knowledge of product costing
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and SAP; PowerBI knowledge preferred
  • Analyze large data sets and distill insights into concise messages for senior management presentations
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of personnel and management, and work independently to solve complex problems and achieve objectives
