Now hiring! Local Sr. Specialist, Product Development (Watermelons)

We are looking for a Local Specialist, Product Development to join our Agricultural Solutions team supporting our BASF | Nunhems Vegetable Seeds business. This role is a field based position based in the Southeastern US, preferably in Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Florida.

As a Local Specialist in Product Development, you will leverage local market, customer, and crop expertise to design and execute impactful, customized trial plans aligned with the crop strategy and in coordination with the Regional Specialist in Product Development. This position assists in training local teams to ensure high-quality trial execution, data collection, and customer feedback. It also supports variety positioning and value proposition development through rigorous analysis and technical insights. Additionally, you will drive the creation of innovative growing concepts and act as a trusted technical advisor to both internal teams and key customers.

  • Defining variety value propositions and positioning by translating field and digital insights into actionable knowledge tailored to key customers and markets.
  • Coordinating local trial plans in collaboration with the Regional Specialist Product Development to ensure impactful, efficient, and customized trials.
  • Capturing, analyzing, and presenting high-quality data and customer feedback to support evaluations, proposals, and strategic decisions.
  • Identifying market opportunities and trends by collaborating with local and regional stakeholders to shape proactive action plans.
  • Providing expert technical support to sales and customer service teams, acting as a trusted reference for BASF Vegetables and Seeds varieties.
  • Traveling locally and regionally up to 30% overnight, with occasional international trips, to support field activities and customer engagement.


If you...



  • Have a bachelor's degree (preferred) and 2+ years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree and no additional years of experience; or a high school diploma and 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of the local market and the ability to identify trends and opportunities
  • Maintain a results-oriented focus with an emphasis on driving impact
  • Be commercially aware, with a talent for identifying business potential
  • Have hands-on experience in setting up and managing agricultural trials
  • Hold deep agronomic knowledge relevant to the crops you'll be working with
  • Are familiar with productivity tools, as well as possessing a working knowledge of statistics and databases
  • Have the capability to analyze and interpret data to support decision-making
  • Be proficient in English; Spanish is a plus
  • Are able to travel up to 30%, domestically and at times internationally
