BASF's Coatings division is a global expert in the development, production and marketing of innovative and sustainable automotive OEM and refinish coatings. We are headquartered in Southfield, MI and service customers around the globe.

We are looking for a customer focused, organized, diligent problem solver. Your primary function will be to provide in-depth Ecoat support to our BMW customer, working onsite at the plant during day / 1st shift operations 5 - 6 days per week, with the ability to be on-call during off hours and weekends, as the situation demands. (Shift typically starts at 7am).

Additionally, you will support the efforts of BASF to assure value to the customer for product technical support, problem investigation, analysis, and resolution. You will also assure that coatings material performance meets or exceeds customer expectations and supports business objectives to remain our customer's supplier of choice. Collect, report, and maintain daily and weekly measurements, to ensure all material is within specification and driving customer expected performance.

You will demonstrate the technical and professional expertise needed to enhance BASF's reputation with the customer. This role controls key performance indicators within product service environments to drive problem resolution and product improvement initiatives critical to customer performance expectations

What you'll do:

Providing on-site expertise of products, their application and performance.
Inspecting and evaluating painted units for defects (e.g., sags, thin paint, drips, craters, orange peel, etc.) providing process recommendations for control and correction.
Interacting with production team members, maintenance personnel, and management at this customer manufacturing facility.
Managing technical support activities on your own with minimal supervision.
Creating written reports, analyzing product and process data, and supporting inventory management and supply as required by the BASF service leader for that location.

If you have...

Four-year degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering highly preferred. (must have high school diploma)
3-5 years E-coat expertise in a lab/automotive manufacturing environment.
End to end expertise as an E-Coat subject matter expert for a site highly preferred.
Topcoat or automated paint application expertise a plus.
Strong attention to detail/accuracy to ensure smooth operations with daily / weekly production.
Excellent interpersonal skills as you will be primary point of contact for our BMW customer.
Strong leadership and problem solving ability.
Proficient computer skills In MSOffice including the ability to generate and maintain files and reports daily.
SAP experience highly preferred.
