Alliance Ag & Grain LLC located in Spearville KS is hiring a VP of Agronomy. The VP of Agronomy leads the strategic vision, planning, execution, and oversight of Alliance Ag & Grain Agronomy Division operations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily management and profitability of agronomy operations including agronomy safety; Forecasting; planning and scheduling; crop production marketing; business development and consulting; purchasing and program management; detailed industry knowledge and experience; and recommendations for change and improvements in the agronomy division.
- Providing leadership within the Co-op through current knowledge of sound business practices; industry news; budget limits; and legal requirements. The VP of Agronomy must have the ability to effectively analyze business operations; lead team members; effectively manage time; communicate effectively both in writing and verbally; maintain a clean and organized work area; present a professional appearance; and be proactive in developing the Co-op's business goals.
- This job carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints; solving problems and working with Management to achieve maximum utilization of employees and equipment.
- Responsible for promoting sales and use of Alliance Ag & Grain products and services, this position is based on the customers' needs and therefore fluctuates as far as hours worked during peak seasons.
- The ability to manage difficult or emotional situations; respond promptly to customer needs; resolve questions, complaints, and concerns immediately; and meet commitments.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Strong management experience with excellent change management skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal relationship-building abilities, along with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Highly motivated and a proactive self-starter
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products and other related software.
- Experience with Winfield United Programs and Products preferred.
- Extensive understanding of chemicals and fertilizers, including their specific applications.
- A valid Driver's license and the ability to maintain the license with a safe driving record.
- Ability to work in direct exposure to fertilizer, chemicals, grain dusts, and various outdoor conditions and temperatures.
