General Purpose and Scope of Position:
The Fertilizer Operations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating product shipments and transfers between branch locations and the distribution center. This role also supports all aspects of customer service, including product selection, order processing, and inventory management. Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of fertilizer compatibility, chemical blending, and agronomic products are essential to success in this position.
Ke y Skills and Abilities Include:
Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret written procedures and reports
Must have some knowledge of blending liquid fertilizers
Must have some understanding of what fertilizers are compatible with
Must have the ability to prioritize orders
Must have some knowledge of DOT regulations and knowledge of a working trucking company
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from other employees, customers, regulatory agencies, suppliers, etc.
Must be able to deal effectively with different personalities
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical applications
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to sit at a desk or computer terminal to perform writing and keying/typing information
Key Personal Attributes Include:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Fluent in English, both verbal and written. Bilingual preferred, not mandatory.
Good communication skills on the telephone, two-way radio, and with the general public .
Must possess good computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office
Experience with AgVance and Fleetworthy/Comply preferred
Solid Safety Compliance record a must
Must possess good mathematical skills
Strong customer service orientation required, including the ability to effectively respond to telephone calls and customer inquiries
Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments
Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:
Process calls from our salesmen , customers, and other branch locations for orders of materials.
Take orders, process, and prepare for pickup or delivery. Complete in an accurate and timely manner to ensure satisfactory billing.
Coordinate shipments of various products with trucking companies.
Coordinate transfers of products between branches and main site.
Contact trucking companies to coordinate shipments and instruct drivers on the requirements of the loads.
Inventory tracking and control.
Operate truck scale and complete weight tags, bills of lading and hazardous materials shipping papers.
Answer telephone and computer inquiries about product orders.
Communicate directions and instructions, both verbally and in writing, to customers, vendors, other employees and the public.
Conduct physical inventory counts of bulk storage areas.
Calculate total quantities of products by weight and/or volumetric measurements.
Use the computer system to enter customer orders for bills of lading and hazardous materials shipping papers
Use standard office equipment: Fax machines, postage machines, copier machines, etc.
Provide backup and assistance to other dispatchers and/or receptionists , answering phones.
Present a professional image to customers in all interactions (verbal, computer and in-person) and in personal appearance
Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner
Compensation and Benefits:
The base compensation for this position ranges from $23.61 to $31.50 per hour. Note that wages may vary based on skills, and experience. This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
