General Purpose and Scope of Position:

Wilbur-Ellis is seeking a Field Technology Specialist who will be responsible for championing the adoption of Wilbur-Ellis' digital agronomy solutions within our district Sales Agronomy teams, as well as with current and potential Wilbur Ellis customers. The Field Tech Specialist will lead the roll-out efforts and growth of digital and technology solutions by partnering with our local teams to identify, sell, and support customers. This is a full-time dedicated role with training, team-selling, and direct sales responsibilities.

 

Wilbur Ellis’ digital agronomy solutions include a portfolio of digital platforms and in-field IOT equipment focused on delivering the data, analytics, and insights to support grower decision-making and operational optimization.  Wilbur Ellis’ digital solutions portfolio includes AgVerdict, CropSights, Probe Schedule, Total Nutrient Systems, digital imagery, and more.  The digital solutions portfolio complements Wilbur-Ellis’ value-added advisory services by offering powerful, easy-to-access insights. Field Technology Services brings together several components to provide best-in-class solutions.

 

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • BS in Ag Business or related studies preferred or related experience
  • Knowledge and experience of Digital Ag/Precision Ag program implementation and execution at the farm level
  • 3-8 years’ experience selling, supporting or implementing AgTech, digital, or SaaS platforms
  • Experience in agricultural technology platforms and/or agronomy, including basic knowledge of software systems allowing data gathering and tracking on soils, crops, water management, pests, etc.
  • Knowledge of commercial agriculture practices and equipment utilized in building a technology program including but not limited to: Soil Optix, data collection and field mapping, variable rate fertilizer application equipment (both liquid and dry), spray equipment (pesticides), computer systems and interpretation of collected data
  • Familiarity with marketing techniques, financial accounting, and business value calculations.
  • Ability to create relevant content and deliver to large groups using PPT, Canva, Prezi, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Dynamics
  • Ability to Travel up to 50%

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Serve as the sales lead and subject matter expert for Wilbur Ellis’ digital agronomy solutions within the assigned region with the expectation of building trust & support with district teams, developing regional business plans, and delivering on sales goals.
  • Execute the sales functions of prospecting, demoing, and closing sales based on customer needs and solution fit.
    • Collaborate with local Agronomy Sales Representatives to identify target customers, build account plans, and receive customer introductions
    • Make presentations on WE Digital Agronomy Solutions to growers, location teams, and Wilbur-Ellis management, including uncovering customer needs and pain points to provide recommendations
    • Build and manage sales pipeline to achieve personal and business targets
    • Participate in regional tradeshows, grower events, and other customer-facing business development opportunities.
  • Sales Support
    • Conduct training on the value proposition and features of Wilbur Ellis’ digital agronomy solutions to enable district team members to promote solutions
    • Be the subject matter expert to answer questions about WE digital portfolio offerings, including high-level technical aspects of the solutions
    • Collaborate with Agronomy Sales Representatives to enable product sales through the use of digital agronomy tools and insights
    • Promote and implement customer-centric digital selling best practices.
  • Customer Onboarding & Success
    • Support grower onboarding and customer success activities to promote customer adoption, retention, and expansion.
    • Partner with data analysts, customer support/success, and agronomists to conduct and or support customer training and other customer success strategies.
    • Conduct ongoing account service activities on-site, as needed
    • Ensure open communication, data sharing, and an ability to solve grower needs
    • Install, maintain, and calibrate Soil Moisture monitoring equipment

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $71,000 to $94,610. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
