We are currently searching for a Cost Accounting Analyst to work with our Finance Team in Walnut Creek, CA.

 

General Description:
The purpose of this position is to collect data, analyze results, and prepare financial reports to drive business insights into the cost accounting activities. The primary business partner for this position is the Supply Chain team. The position develops standards to ensure accurate product cost, analyzes variances on activities related to material purchases, labor, and other manufacturing cost. Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts to include both balance sheet and P & L. 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the Cost Accounting monthly close process to include journal entry development, analysis and reconciliation of inventory, revenue & cost of goods accounts 
  • Analyze and develop financial reports to support impact of purchase and manufacturing related variances such as purchase price variance, material usage and overhead.
  • Collaborates with Supply Chain to ensure the cycle count audits and yearly physical inventory counts are completed in alignment with internal policies and procedures
  • Supports requirements for JSOX controls processes relating to Cost and Inventory 
  • Prepare various schedules and provide commentary to support the interim and annual financial audits.
  • Prepares various reports in support of corporate, and management monthly and quarterly reporting. This includes Gross Margin, Unrealized Gross Margin and Inventory Comparatives
  • Participates in the budgeting and forecasting activities associated with the cost development and standards rolling process. Develop and update actual standards for materials, labor and overhead as required
  • Ensure Master data files associated with the Cost Accounting and inventory modules are accurate in the SAP ERP system and participate in software improvement and implementation projects.
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Typically, BA/BS, MBA or equivalent with 7+ years' experience
  • 5+ years of Cost Accounting experience
  • BS in Accounting or Finance
  • SAP experience a plus and MS office required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
