Position Title:  Manager – Market Access 

Reports To:   Senior Director - Market Access            


Position Summary

This position is based in St. Louis and reports to the Senior Director of Market Access and is a member of the Senior Director’s professional staff.


The purpose of this position is to assist in development and implementation of the USSEC Global Market Access program and assist overseas offices with appropriate resources to support regional/country trade policy and market access initiatives.


Essential Job Functions include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with the Senior Director of Market Access to develop and implement creative and effective worldwide initiatives to advance market access initiatives to reduce barriers affecting the export of soy and soy products.
  • Work in close association with Market Development staff to ensure two-way communication of information with overseas staff and stakeholders on all market access issues. 
  • Work with overseas directors to respond to existing and emerging market access constraints and, if needed, manage the implementation of the strategies.
  • Develop and implement programs in conjunction with other export oriented organizations, as appropriate. 
  • Work with Senior Director of Market Access, and other directors/offices as needed, on issues related to pesticide maximum residue levels, biotechnology, plant breeding innovation and other tariff and non-tariff measures.
  • Serve as the USSEC representative to various committees or coalitions that focus on market access that provide forums to advance technology through dialogue and interactions with stakeholders and like-minded organizations.
  • Manage market access focused teams, missions and symposiums.  Work with overseas directors from planning to implementation and necessary follow up.
  • Ensure program compliance with USSEC policies and procedures. 
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Ensure that all HR requirements and payroll accounting requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Attend required USSEC and USSEC Stakeholder Events:
  • Ensure submission according to the prescribed deadlines, and present requests to your Action Team such as:
    • New Project Proposals
    • Project Change Requests
    • Grower Leader Travel Requests
    • Additional Funding Requests


Education, Experience and Skills:  An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the field of management, marketing, international relations or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in developing initiatives and programs and resolving barriers to the export of agricultural crops.
  • Demonstrated experience in foreign marketing and in working successfully together with other cultures and nationalities.
  • Willingness to work, travel and participate in foreign cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, develop and evaluate market plans and/or related studies.
  • Familiarity with U.S. agriculture, agricultural programs and policies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner at all times.
