Position Summery

We are seeking an experienced, data driven Supply Chain Manager to lead endtoend supply chain planning and execution for our meat processing operations. This role oversees demand planning, raw material and packaging procurement, production scheduling, inventory management, and outbound logistics to ensure reliable service, cost efficiency, and product quality. The ideal candidate understands protein supply dynamics, coldchain requirements, and multishift manufacturing, and can collaborate cross functionally to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Demand & Supply Planning
  • Own S&OP/IBP processes: align sales forecasts, production capacity, and inventory targets across fresh and processed products.
  • Translate demand signals into feasible supply and production plans, balancing service, cost, and yield.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and bias; implement corrective actions with Sales, Category, and Finance.

Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Oversee sourcing of raw materials (meat primal, trim), ingredients, packaging, and indirect supplies.
  • Partner with Strategic Supply/Procurement to negotiate pricing, lead times, and contracts; ensure supplier performance (quality, OTIF, compliance).
  • Assess supply risk (seasonality, market volatility, capacity limits) and execute contingency/dual sourcing plans.

Production Scheduling & Capacity Management
  • Build weekly/daily production schedules by line, shift, and SKU that reflect run rates, changeovers, and labor availability.
  • Optimize utilization of equipment, labor, and cold storage while meeting customer specs and service levels.
  • Coordinate with Operations, QA, and Maintenance to manage changeovers, sanitation windows, trials, and PM downtime.

Inventory & Cold Chain Management
  • Set inventory policies (safety stocks, reorder points, days of supply) for raw, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Monitor shelf life, lot age, and rotation (FIFO/FEFO) to minimize writeoffs and ensure product integrity.
  • Drive accuracy of ERP/MES transactions; lead cycle counts, reconciliations, and root cause correction of variances.

Logistics & Customer Service
  • Oversee outbound shipments, carrier selection, routing guides, and temperature controlled transportation.
  • Ensure OTIF performance, accurate documentation (BOLs, labels, export docs), and customer specification compliance.
  • Partner with Customer Service to proactively manage order dates, substitutions, shortages, and accessorial.

Cost, Yield & Performance Management
  • Track and improve key metrics: forecast accuracy, plan adherence, yield, giveaway, labor productivity, OEE, OTIF, inventory turns, and logistics cost per pound.
  • Collaborate with Finance on standard costs, COGS drivers, and savings initiatives (freight optimization, materials, waste reduction).
  • Lead cross functional rootcause analysis and continuous improvement projects (Lean/Six Sigma).

Compliance, Quality & Traceability
  • Ensure processes and documentation meet USDA, HACCP, GMP, and customer audit requirements across the chain.
  • Maintain lot/traceability integrity from suppliers through finished goods and distribution.
  • Support product holds, recalls, and corrective actions with rapid and accurate data.

Systems, Data & Process Improvement
  • Champion ERP/MES/WMS/transportation and planning tools; improve master data, planning parameters, and user discipline.
  • Develop dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI/Tableau) to drive visibility and decision-making.
  • Standardize SOPs, strengthen cross functional routines, and automate where feasible.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Agriculture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of supply chain experience in manufacturing or food processing; multishift and coldchain experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP planning (MRP/MPS), inventory management, and transportation/logistics.
  • Strong analytical skills (Excel/BI), problemsolving, and crossfunctional communication.
  • Demonstrated success improving service, cost, and inventory performance.

Preferred
  • Experience in meat processing (beef, pork, poultry) or valueadded/processed proteins.
  • Familiarity with USDA/HACCP/GMP requirements and traceability.
  • Knowledge of S&OP/IBP practices, Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with systems such as SAP/JD Edwards/Microsoft Dynamics/NetSuite, WMS/TMS, and BI tools.
