Position Summary:
The ideal Seasonal Commodity Driver and Operations Support candidate conducts daily operating activities pertaining to grain receiving and fertilizer distribution as well as provide timely deliveries of fertilizer and fertilizer equipment to customers in the local area. Also, they have a working knowledge of and are responsible for support in the daily operations of the Risser facility. To accomplish this, they will need to follow quality, environmental and safety policies and procedures as they work alongside other operations personnel and supervision to provide support in unloading and loading of grain and fertilizer products.
Schedule and Hours: The Seasonal Commodity Driver & Operations Support will be employed during our peak business seasons, which is anticipated to be from April to June and again from October to Novemeber. While a full-time schedule cannot be guratneed, the team member will collaborate with the manager to establish a schedule that will be regularly reviewed and adjusted based on staffing needs and business demands. Please note that while part-tiem and seasonal team members may work full-time hours certain weeks, they will not be eligible for full-time benefits. Any hours worked beyond 40 in a week will qualify for overtime pay.
Once the busy season concludes and demand slows down, the employer is not obligated to provide additional work.
May be responsible for all or part of the following duties and responsibilities to be determined by the Site Manager and Supervision.
Maintenance
Perform basic routine maintenance on property and equipment
Conduct daily maintenance work activities in assigned equipment areas and sets up any additional work maintenance schedules required
Continuously maintain awareness of any maintenance problems and develop strategies and procedures to correct existing problems and helps eliminate any future maintenance related issues or reduce unscheduled down times due to maintenance issues
Promote an active safety awareness program, including applying clean housekeeping practices to tools, equipment and facility
Ensure that all procedures are properly followed while conducting a repair
Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental, safety and quality laws and procedures
Troubleshoot causes of equipment problems and work independently and/or with maintenance team and equipment operators to ensure proper and permanent fixes are in place
Perform housekeeping duties as requested by the Site Manager and supervision
Facilities
Receive and sample grain deliveries
Assist when needed at blending tower to provide timely service
Shovel and sweep up spills
Tender Truck Driver
Prevent damage to customer's equipment and property when making deliveries
Conduct pre and post trip inspections
Record fertilizer spreader and tender locations
Inspect fertilizer spreaders and tenders for operating condition when making deliveries
Properly and safely operate tending equipment
Maintain truck and tender by
Routine greasing
Cleaning truck inside and out
Maintaining adequate fluid levels
Keeping fertilizer slides clean to prevent batches from unintentionally mixing
Fill fuel tanks at end of each day before going home
Communications
Maintain shift maintenance activities report as well as maintaining records of preventing maintenance, parts replacement, inventory of parts, etc.
Report all maintenance, environmental, safety, quality and food safety issues immediately to the Site Manager
Administration and Other
Perform maintenance activities as part of a team with team members
Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of Risser trucks and of tools and inventory in the vehicle
Verify all tools and equipment are properly accounted for and put away
Expected to assist other departments as time allows or as needed when directed by supervisor
Complete training in a timely manner
Perform other duties as defined by Site Manager and other supervision
Who you are

Ability to operate various types of machinery and heavy equipment as appropriate
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and can drive company vehicle, per policy
Tender truck drivers able to work 10-12 hours per day without constant supervision
Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts and overtime as needed

Basic understanding of and able to follow Food Safety Standards - FSMA and SQF, Federal and State regulations

Education & Experience
A minimum requirement of a High School Diploma or equivalent
Current CDL Class B/A with air brakes and valid physical card
Experience driving a non-synchronized truck transmission requried
Basic demonstration of problem solving and trouble-shooting equipment failure skills
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Background in fertilizer and agricultural practices through educaiton and/or experience preferred
Ability to operate various types of machinery and heavy equipment preferred

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly and up to 100 lbs. on occasion

Ability to work in dusty conditions
Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces
Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, inside or outside
Standing approximately 95% of the shift
Work in confining environments under / over equipment
Manual and finger dexterity to make precise coordinated movements
Position Requirements
A minimum requirement of a high school degree
An associate or college degree (BA or BS in agriculture, manufacturing or relevant industry) preferred
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a feed mill or analogous manufacturing environment
Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience required
Able to understand and contribute to all functions in a Mill operation
Knowledge of feed manufacturing techniques, equipment operation and maintenance
Possess an advanced knowledge level of animal nutrition
Ability to complete PCQI training
