Job Description:

The Sales Agronomist collaborates with farmers and crop researchers to conduct detailed analysis of crop data. The incumbent needs to maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of crop production, soil control and soil management to drive a higher crop yield.  He/she will be responsible for providing agronomic product support and advice in order to sell products to customers and will develop long-term relationships with both existing and new customers.

What will you do:

  • Develop and implement long-term agronomic plans to maximize crop production, plant nutrients and soil health and harvesting techniques
  • Assess crop production on the farm and take and test samples (seed, plant and soil) to identify better crop solutions and farming practices
  • Test samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes
  • Assist with plant sourcing, testing and selection
  • Research and promote agricultural strategies to counter the effects of changes in soil, climate, weather and pest damage
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations to improve seed quality
  • Provide seed and fertilizer advice and present research to farmers regarding crops
  • Develop planting and irrigation schedules, budgets and timelines
  • Perform quality control for seed caliber and soil standards
  • Keep records of research, testing and results for each farm and customer
  • Identify prospective buyers and sales to be made in designated region
  • Construct sale proposals and contracts
  • Organize various marketing activities
  • Prepare status reports, analysis and data presentations
  • Conduct training on products and techniques through education presentations for customers and business
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

•            Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical

•            Excellent listening and communication skills

•            Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

•            Strong research, decision making critical thinking and problem-solving skills

•            Awareness of industry trends, technology and developments

•            Sales and presentation skills

•            Commitment to develop a safe culture

Physical Requirements

•            Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on occasion

•            Ability to work outside, stand, walk, kneel and stoop for extended periods

 

Position Requirements:

•            Bachelor's degree in agronomy, crop or soil science or other related field

•            At least 2-4 years of work experience in agronomy

•            Strong customer relations by providing professional agronomic service and advice

•            High knowledge of agronomic marketing and development plans to support org plans

•            Minimum of 2 years in sales

•            In-depth knowledge of soil and crop principles

•            Background knowledge in fertilizer and agriculture
