Formulation – Intern

The Wenger Group internships offer students a unique exposure to many facets of technology and its relationship with agriculture. The Wenger Group tailors the internship to meet both the student and company objectives for a mutually beneficial experience. The Formulation Intern will provide support to formulation team on formulating and manufacturing trial diets for the nutrition department. Travel to various mills and research farms as appropriate to the objective of the study.

What will you do:

  • Update Ingredient tags and labels
  • Update nutrient and safety limits within the formulation software
  • Formulate and manufacture trial diets for the nutrition department
  • Help in the transition to updated formulation software
  • Updating Dairy Product Manual
  • Updating Dairy Income over Feed Cost customer information
  • Dairy records data sorting project (DHIA information).
  • Milk Bridge Trial data gathering (depending on start date of intern and trials)
  • Performance Fuel ration evaluations (terminology we use to evaluate forage performance)
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly and up to 75 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places
  • Ability to work in dusty conditions.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Who are you:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Animal Science, Agriculture or related field required
  • Experience working with databases and systems, including inputting and extracting data
  • Exposure to or experience in feed mill and/or livestock (poultry, swine, dairy) production is preferred
  • Has understanding of basic business process to read content for general understanding and grammar and make minor grammatical corrections
