What your day looks like:
Position Summary
The Finance Intern position will rotate between all aspects of the finance department and assist with projects as determined by financial management. Projects will include aspects of the treasury function and financial reporting functions. The Finance Intern will be part of the broader Wenger Group internship program which will provide exposure to other departments of the company as well.
Primary Responsibilities
The internship will include assisting on a number of projects across the finance team to give the position broad exposure and to provide forward momentum to finance team initiatives.
Fixed Asset audit - visit each mill with a member of finance team management to compare the fixed asset schedules with the physical plant for potential write offs of obsolete equipment. Assist with disposing of obsolete items and other Fixed Asset clean up as needed.
Budgeting - Assist the financial reporting team with compiling budget reports and analysis.
Forecasting - Assisting with the development of longer-term financial forecasting models and investment analysis.
Financial Analysis - assist in gathering and analyzing data related to key areas of company performance.
Assistance with Reconciliations - Assist Financial Analyst with the completion and updating of various reconciliations including but not limited to Cash, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other balance sheet accounts as needed.
Assist in the period end close process, including prepping and posting of journal entries, reviewing financial results and providing commentary on the drivers of costs for the period.
Other projects as assigned throughout the internship as priorities may change from the above list of planned projects.
Qualifications
Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High degree of organizational skill, accuracy and confidentiality.
