What your day looks like:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading the period end reporting of financial statements for The Wenger Group, Inc. Including consolidated financial statement reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller. This position will maintain the general ledger, fixed asset schedules, account reconciliations, and period end close processes for the corporate accounting function.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
General Ledger Management
Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Ensure accurate and timely posting of journal entries.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Fixed Assets
Manage the fixed asset accounting process including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
Ensure compliance with capitalization policies and GAAP standards.
Coordinate physical inventory and asset tagging processes.
Track and report on capital projects budgeted, approved, and monitor spending against projects in progress.
Account Reconciliation
Supervise the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Maintain documentation to support audit and compliance requirements.
Financial Reporting
Prepare internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Support the preparation of management reports.
Assist with regulatory filings and audit requests.
Provide backup and assistance for other positions in the department as requested.
Participate on committees or project teams as required or directed by Assistant Corporate Controller.
Perform additional responsibilities within the department as requested.
Perform all other duties as directed by supervisor.
Ensure adherence to Wenger policies, methods, and disciplines
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and five to seven years of experience.
CPA or CMA license preferred
Knowledgeable in US GAAP
Excellent analytical skills, problem solving skills, and computer skills.
Demonstrates a positive attitude. Works well with finance and non-finance team members.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
High degree of organization, plans and executes work effectively, and able to work with confidential information.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
