The University of Mount Olive (UMO) School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences is a trailblazer in educating future agricultural leaders. Located in the heart of agricultural production in eastern North Carolina, UMO prepares graduates in the rapidly growing and changing fields of agriculture.

The UMO School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences, in keeping with its reputation of providing a convenient and affordable education to all students, offers agricultural degree options in both a 100% online format for adult students, as well as a traditional seated format for recent high school graduates.

100% Online Agriculture Degrees for Adult Students

The flexibility of the online format allows busy adult students the opportunity to continue working full-time while attending online classes.  To maximize the flexibility for working adults, each class is 8 weeks in length.  UMO is transfer friendly and accepts transfer credits from many two and four year institutions.  Experiential learning credits may also be available to those who have occupational background which closely parallels the experiences and objectives required in the coursework.  To help make the cost of tuition even more affordable, financial aid and scholarship opportunities may be available.  For the adult student, 100% online degree options in agriculture include:
•    Agribusiness
•    Agricultural Communication and Leadership

Students are encouraged to cultivate agricultural skills and methods to support a desire for knowledge and the ability to problem solve using advanced critical thinking skills. Faculty have extensive real-life experience, and are nationally recognized in their fields of study.

Seated Agricultural Degree Programs

UMO also offers degree options for the traditional student learner, providing hands-on experience at the Kornegay Student Farm where they can engage in research and advance applied knowledge.  In addition, industry standard certifications are a component of the learning environment, allowing students the opportunity to stand out to employers by showing achievement of advanced industry proficiency. Degree options for the daytime program include:
•    Agribusiness
•    Agricultural Communication and Leadership
•    Agricultural Education

•     Environmental and Natural Resources
•    Plant Science

As a private, faith-based institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition, UMO is proud to educate tomorrow’s agricultural leaders.  The University touts a 100% job placement rate of its agriculture graduates within six months of graduation.
