This position is responsible for expanding the Ingredient supplier network for the Food and Nutrition business. This position will work at the direction of the General Manager and will play a critical role in driving the business unit strategy forward.  The Business Development Manager will develop and maintain a broad network of Non-GMO and organic ingredient suppliers with the specific purpose of cultivating new supply relationships and strategic business partnerships for the Food and Nutrition business. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to market analysis and cataloging of existing and not yet to market Non-GMO and Organic suppliers and product offerings, proactive relationship development with targeted suppliers, recommendations for move forward suppliers and products that fit strategic intent for the business, initiation, and negotiation of relevant legal agreements. This position will work closely with R&D, Marketing, Sales and Trade Execution teams in helping onboard new suppliers. This person should have experience in supply chain development and deal structure; including but not limited to strategic partnerships, exclusive commercial relationships, and acquisitions along with a broad knowledge of Organic and Non-GMO ingredient supply chains with enhanced knowledge of supply chains, customers, products related to Non-GMO proteins, alternative flours, and alternative sweeteners.

Job Requirements

  • Develop and maintain a wide network of relationships with wide network of suppliers in the Organic and Non-GMO ingredient space that fit the strategic direction of the F&N business unit. Create targeted recommendations for partnership based on BU strategy and GM direction. Report and present findings and recommendations to GM and F&N product review team for review and approval for go forward decision. Once go forward is received, manage, negotiate and finalize deal structure with counter party to ensure deal crosses the finish line.
  • Work with R&D team to analyze product functional and sensory attributes to determine value and right to win. Present and report on findings and recommendations 
  • Develop and maintain supplier scoring system to help evaluate candidate suppliers and make recommendations based on fit
  • Begin the initial supplier onboarding process and hand off relationship management responsibilities once onboarded
  • Work cross functionally with other Scoular BU's to learn and leverage existing relationships and capabilities to create greater value for Scoular
  • Work with legal team to vet and negotiate NDA's and contracts as needed.
  • Work with Marketing, R&D, Trade Execution, and sales teams to help develop product launch and supplier onboarding material

Requirements

Minimum

  •  Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • A strong understanding of and experience in the Non-GMO and organic market.
  • 10 years or more years of experience in food ingredient supply chain Management/Development
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships internally and with external customers.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and execution, business development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse cross-functional teams and with external resources including suppliers and external supply chain partners.
  • Must be self-starter, show initiative and be able to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational agility to navigate unprecedented change.
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred


  • Master's Degree in Business Management or related field is desirable.
