Position Overview
The Specialist II Logistics position is responsible for logistics coordination of a relatively complex nature with a strong emphasis on railcar expertise. The scope of responsibility could be internal rail fleet management tracking railcar fleet needs coordinating railcar repairs serving customers by assisting with railcar availability and repairs or a combination thereof. This position is highly collaborative and shares information internally to optimize efficiency and effectiveness while delivering extraordinary service.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with logistics teams and business units to ensure fleet is running at optimal capacity and size.
- Continually maintain market knowledge conduct research track regulation changes and leverage experience in the railcar industry to make decisions and negotiate terms that are competitive and meet financial operational and service goals.
- Analyze data and information and make recommendations toward continuous improvement efforts.
- Develop collaborative relationships across internal departments and with external service providers and industry groups to understand and facilitate holistic coordination amongst their independent needs and requirements preventing and resolving issues. This includes maintaining relationships with railcar owners and railcar repair shops.
- Manage administrative processes surrounding railcar operations which could include managing system information and providing reports and data resolving maintenance events and issues conveyance of market pricing conditions shop capacity information input and auditing for billing/invoicing and ensuring proper documentation is obtained/completed.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelorâs Degree required
- 2-5 yearsâ relevant experience required
- Advanced understanding of Excel and other Microsoft products.
- Experience managing maintenance operations for large fleet of railcars ensuring compliance with industry standards
- In-depth knowledge of railcar components and repair practices such as overseeing estimates repairs and billing gained through practical experience in a shop or fleet management role.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and optimize railcar maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
- 20-30 travel may be required
