Job Description:
Position Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring the Company is in full compliance with Department of Transportation DOT and Federal Motor Vehicle Carrier Safety Administration FMCSA regulations and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain all Driver Qualification DQ files and other required records for DOT regulated employees including DOT Drug and Alcohol screenings medical cards and hours of service
  • Manage and oversee the external DOT support provider relationship and process including maintaining the active DOT driver listing Â
  • Establish and maintain a risk-assessment process in accordance with the FMCSA to assess DOT drivers while actively employed and during pre-employment
  • Conduct training for drivers managers and locations regarding inspection requirements and expectations
  • Correspond with location leadership regarding any compliance concerns with DOT drivers at their location
  • Monitor and assist in enforcement of pre â and post-hire DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Perform and document regular audits to ensure full DOT compliance making corrections as needed
  • Investigate manage and process all driver accident claims
  • Inspect DOT maintenance records and perform random vehicle inspections at all locations to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Conduct ride-alongs with DOT drivers to audit safety performance
  • Establish necessary relationships with operations and management to further the vision of the DOT goals
  • Lead and assist locations and drivers with ELD implementation where necessary

Education & Experience

  • Bachelorâs Degree required Masterâs Degree preferred
  • 5-10 yearsâ relevant experience required
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations with 1-3 yearsâ relevant program experience required
  • Possess a Commercial Drivers License CDL or be willing to obtain within the first 18-months of employment
  • Must be able to maintain a valid driverâs license and satisfactory driving record to drive for the company according to DOT standards and the Companyâs Vehicle Safety and Driver Qualification Policy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailÂ
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skillsÂ
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar softwareÂ

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

  • Located at the Central Office Building or a Company location with DOT drivers
  • 35-40 travel required may be more in the first 6-12 months
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computerÂ
  • Must be able to stand for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to climb/stoop/kneel
  • Working conditions could include dust fumes moderate noise and uneven surfaces
