Role purpose
The purpose of theTrialing & Nursery Team Leader role is to manage nursery and yield trial projects on behalf of multiple scientists and projects, ensuring they are completed timely, accurately and in the most cost effective manner. This is measured by reliability of seed production, precision of yield trials, continual improvement and budget efficiency. Will also have responsibility for site management that ensures site efficiency through their leadership.
Accountabilities
1. Personnel Management of field operations support staff Recruit, hire, train and manage direct reports Continuous improvement of direct reports through IPMs, training, and mentoring Recruit and manage seasonal staff2. Oversee field trialing and related activities to assure that department standards and timelines are met for packaging, planting, agronomic management and harvesting of: In season nurseries High quality yield trials, including location selection, mapping and data analysis Both internal and external trials in TX, OK, KS, CO, NE, SD, MT3. Align resource and work plans within your team Work with the local station manager and appropriate crop operations leadership to assure Demand and Resources are well balanced within your team Work with other cross functional teams when appropriate to ensure business goals are met. 4. Monitor and responsibility for Operating Budgets within your team and expected guidelines 5. Site management responsibilitiesto ensure site stability. Ensure site meets all HSE and stewardship requirements. Ensure proper oversight of all building infrastructure to ensure site efficiency. Ensure all payments and contracts for services rendered are up to date. 6. Identify and support capital needs within your team that are financially responsible and improve Trialing efficiency / quality7. Support and model a team culture that meets or exceeds the Syngenta standards for HSES and Stewardship8. Skills:

Knowledge, experience & capabilitiesCritical knowledge
A thorough knowledge of the breeding and testing process and requirements. Understanding of testing environments and impact on product evaluation and line selection. General understanding of field, road and lab equipment utilization. A good understanding of cultural practices e.g., weed control, soil fertility practices. Critical experience
BS degree and5+ years experience in field research preferred Demonstrated ability in field research process management Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and motivate staff and teams
