To support that challenge, the Seeds Operations team is currently seeking a Safety Technician in Phillips, NE. You will help shape the future of agriculture by:
- Assisting the site HSE Lead or site leadership to ensure compliance with state, federal, and company safety policies and regulations.
- Helping the site maintain proper documentation of monthly safety inspections and conduct routine contractor orientation.
- Driving awareness and accountability of site HSE programs.
- Preparing and retaining training documents.
- Creating job safety analyses to achieve desired safety objectives.
Accountabilities
- Drive awareness, ownership and accountability of the site HSE programs
- Work with site HSE Lead and site leadership to achieve site safety goals and initiatives
- Strict adherence to all HSE protocols at the site
- Continue to build on cost effective structure to achieve site HSE goals
- Conduct HSE monthly training programs in accordance with site training calendar
- Drive the site monthly safety observations, forklift observations to continue to drive employee engagement within safety
- Attend continuing education in relation to Syngenta safety programs
- Maintain accurate HSE records as required by Syngenta
- Conduct outside contactor orientation when contractor work is required
- Issue site specific permits when maintenance work is required in key areas (hot work, work from heights)
- Collaborate with other HSE technicians and Leads across sites to drive best practices
- Prepare training documents, job-safety-analyses, and other documents related to site safety activities
- Conduct inspections and audits of site as required by the site safety programs
- Actively participate in site's safety "Goal Zero" initiative
- Maintain a strong presence onsite through GEMBA walks, inspections, etc.
- Develop operational knowledge and functional understanding of both plant and field activities
- Participate in GDD's (Good, Difficult, Different) meeting with site leadership as it pertains to safety
Qualifications
Requirements
- Associate's Degree or technical program certification preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and guidelines
- Knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations
- Ability to maintain accurate safety records for document compliance with Syngenta
- Strong computer skills and ability to work in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word
- Minimum 0-2 years in safety related function
- Experience HAZMAT and chemical storage programs
- Experience incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Experience with WPS (Worker Protection Standards)
- Experience with Kaizen or other safety record keeping system
- Experience with waste management and Tier II requirements
- Experience with risk analysis tools and techniques
- Individual must be authorized to work in the United States for Syngenta without work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.

- Create a "safety first" working environment to safeguard employees, Syngenta assets and the environment.
- Identify areas for strategic improvement within assigned role scope.
- Ability to identify risk through process risk assessment and develop and implement risk mitigation solutions.
