  • Conduct plant biology research activities in greenhouses, growth chambers, and laboratories

  • Initiate protocol development to optimize operational efficiency associated with plant care and seed production

  • Deliver project milestones using science based approaches

  • Work 40 hours per week during weekdays and weekend

  • Perform all activities in accordance with Syngenta Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in plant biology for various field crops

  • Perform activities related to plant tissue sampling

  • Initiate and monitor environmental controls in growth rooms

  • Make observations and record data in databases and other record keeping tools

  • Actively participate in cooperative team tasks and initiatives

  • Design, test and implement innovative ideas and concepts to optimize plant growth and development

  • Stay current on developments in greenhouse technology through literature, seminars, and workshops

  • Process seeds, manage seed inventory, and fulfill seed requests and shipments

  • Monitor supply inventory and order consumables

  • Scout and apply pesticides for disease and pest control

  • Willing to work during weekends and holidays


Education & Experience:
  • BS degree in biology or a closely related field

  • Experience working with greenhouse and biotechnology is desirable

  • Proficiency in use of standard Microsoft office software
  • Additional Knowledge, Skills, Traits & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated excellence as a team player

  • Ability to work with a variety of crops

  • Demonstrated ability and motivation to work in unsupervised situations

  • Computer skills such as working with databases, environmental controls, and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent record keeping skills and demonstrated attention to detail

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to perform all physical aspects required in greenhouse activities

  • Commitment and adherence to specific stewardship and quality management practices is essential
