Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. We are currently seeking an Operations and Continuous Improvement Manager for the Product Technology and Engineering team in Greensboro, NC.

As an Operations and Continuous Improvement Manager, you will lead or have oversight of key operational activities and processes across the North American (NA) Product Technology and Engineering (PT&E) department. Lead prioritization, drive delivery, and ensure sustainment of local continuous improvement (CI) activities and projects. Coach and support Product Technology and Engineering leaders and teams to grow their knowledge and capability and develop a Continuous Improvement culture in their own areas, including developing practitioner problem-solving skills and delivering and sustaining improvement initiatives. Collaborate across other global and local operational teams and CI projects. Effectively partner with key customers of PT&E team (Production and Supply, Regulatory Affairs, Research and Development) to understand current and emerging needs, and help shape the PT&E capabilities, processes, and direction.

This is an on-site position (with some flexibility) located in Greensboro, NC.

Duties:

  • Work closely with the North American Product Technology and Engineering Leadership Team to provide oversight of performance of operational activities, develop improved business processes, and support delivery into the department.
  • Provide sponsorship to local teams to drive delivery of continuous improvement activities and support prioritization and resourcing in coordination with local managers.
  • To work with team members and other departments to create or revise processes, including training, reporting, knowledge retention, and other systems enhancements.
  • Implement CI initiatives to increase internal productivity, leveraging voice of customer and driving improvement in KPI targets for increased effectiveness in our operations.
  • Ensure personal development and coaching of staff across the department, role model valued behaviors and recognize and encourage those behaviors across the team.
  • Lead the deployment and implementation of key department priorities aligned with local and global strategy.
  • Oversight of regional PT&E CAPEX program and ensure aligned with regional and global best practices in the most effective format.
  • Provide support for local budget management, risk management, and other departmental operational meetings and processes.
  • Establish and lead a local CI network to share best practices and attend global forums to share and capture lessons from other regions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or related scientific or engineering discipline with 10+ years' operations, CI, science/engineering, or project experience, OR
    • Related Master's degree with 5+ years' operations, CI, science/engineering, or project experience.
  • Experience in Project Management, Agile methodology, and/or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary project team and manage a wide range of projects.
  • Excellent ability to engage, motivate, and influence a diverse group of people.

Preferred:

  • Experience working closely with Manufacturing Operations, R&D, New Product Development, and in a lab environment.
  • Ability to skillfully plan, organize, and monitor performance to meet deadlines.
  • Motivates people to excel by giving clear and skillful feedback.
  • Ability to adapt to changing strategic and external drivers and to influence the direction of the department strategy.
