Role
purpose


Coordinate Corn Trait
Introgression (TI) conversion team activities in the greenhouse. Ensure timely completion of tasks including
data entry, and delivery of materials meeting specifications. Coordinate planning
of activities to optimize use of resources; drive continuous operational
improvement. Communicate and work to
resolve issues within broader operational team.



Accountabilities
  • As Crew Lead, manage
    activities and training for a Corn TI Conversion team to include Syngenta and 3rd
    party labor
  • On-time delivery of project
    seed to Version Test nurseries
  • Ensure best practice
    documentation and timely process compliance with established protocols, process
    metrics and KPIs, including up to date data entry and management of company
    databases and Teamspace files
  • Report and track cycle success
    rates, reasons for failure and make any necessary process improvements to
    ensure consistent > 95% cycle success rate in backcross generations
  • Conduct daily and weekly
    conversion team meetings, to identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical
    problems, using OPEX methodology
  • Manage crew resources to
    ensure excellence and timeliness in greenhouse planting, sampling, sample
    lyophilization and shipment, plant growth, pest control, pollination, harvest
    and drying operations, while ensuring seamless track and trace and minimizing
    errors
  • Coordinate and plan activities
    with Genotyping and embryo rescue laboratories to ensure smooth sample shipment
    and submission, and harvest and transplanting logistics, respectively
  • Maintain regular and thorough
    screening of greenhouse plants for evidence of pests and disease; suboptimal/abnormal
    plant growth; failure to meet target environmental growth condition setpoints;
    and drip irrigation functionality, reporting any issues immediately to the Conversion
    Manager
  • Perform all tasks in a manner
    compliant with and in support of all safety and stewardship related company
    policies and practices, including completing all required training courses
  • Regular and timely ad hoc
    communication of any issues to the Conversion Manager
  • Communicate effectively and
    regularly with peers and supervisors regarding operational and project status
    of projects and work activities, and supply input needs

Must have basic knowledge of genetics, plant breeding and
plant biology; experience in greenhouse operations and Trait Introgression a
plus


Ability to use MS Office, with a strong focus on Excel,
and other standard software

Excellent attention to detail Highly organized and able to manage complex processes requiring
multiple functions

Skills:

Knowledge,

Critical

Minimum HS Diploma +
experience; AS or BS degree in Agronomy or Plant Sciences preferred


Basic knowledge of plant
breeding, genetics and plant biology


Able to obtain Idaho Pesticide
Applicators license


Basic Spanish language
competency preferred

experience



Minimum 1 year experience in plant
breeding and/or greenhouse operations


Experience with Trait
Introgression and/or greenhouse operations preferred


Experience leading greenhouse
or field trial operational teams preferred
