We are currently seeking a Formulation Engineering Manager for the Product Technology & Engineering team in Greensboro, NC. As a Formulation Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the operational activities of the North American Product Technology & Engineering Formulation Group. This includes ensuring health, safety, and environmental accountability for the Formulation Pilot Plant, scheduling, and prioritizing pilot batches across businesses, delivering the development project portfolio within agreed project milestones, with a focus on high-quality process scale-up and manufacturing introductions, and identifying and driving continuous improvement efforts.

You will lead the North American Product Technology Formulation Engineering team, focusing on recruiting, and retaining key talent, developing technical expertise, and supporting other career development objectives. You will also provide prompt support for the North American Production & Supply organization, including product manufacturing, product and process change requests, product transfers, and post-launch product improvements in collaboration with Production & Supply.

Additionally, you will promote innovation in Formulation Engineering with the objective of identifying and implementing value-adding new technologies into the Production and Supply organization.

Accountabilities:

  • Prioritize safety and ensure that the team has the necessary training and skills to operate safely while following all health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Lead operational activities for North American Product Technology & Engineering Team and be part of global Formulation Engineering and North American Formulation Fill & Pack leadership teams. Develop and steer global/regional functional strategy, while ensuring a focus on local product excellence while leveraging global technical expertise.
  • Mentor and coach team members on complex projects or other activities and ensuring a focus on continuous improvement of processes and ways of working across the group and department.
  • Accountable to define and manage a Capex plan for the Formulation Engineering group and Accountable for the operational budget for formulation engineering, and for general functional resource management (demand and capacity).
  • Manage the scheduling and prioritization of the pilot plant across demands from the development portfolio, P&S improvements, product stewardship and other key businesses.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related scientific or engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience leading a team of technical engineers or scientists and excellent ability to engage, motivate and influence a group of diverse people. Excellent coaching skills and ability to give clear, direct, and skillful feedback preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary project team and manage a wide range of projects, and the ability to skillfully plan, organize and monitor performance to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain networks and influence and gain commitment of stakeholders in a compelling way, and the ability to adapt to changing strategic and external drivers and help create and influence the direction of departmental and functional strategies.
  • Broad experience with formulation product development - preferably both liquid and dry scale-up manufacturing processing technologies and experience with supporting formulation manufacturing operations.
