About this Job:
  • To support and optimize business critical enterprise data systems
  • To ensure the data quality throughout the product life cycle
    within the data pipeline
  • Create
    and deploy a high quality data solutions in accordance with requirements and
    acceptance criteria
  • To undertake the development of database solutions in accordance
    with agreed release plans and associated solution
  • To identify and address
    production issues/incidents related to data and data integrations
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with a team of technical and functional experts in
    delivering software solutions, product releases, and operational tasks
    including identification and repair of any data issues that spans across teams
  • Evaluate work processes and best practices and implement changes
    to optimize various database environments
  • Proactively and regularly make recommendations for system improvements and
    cost optimization approaches
  • Collate, prepare and present statistical
    information as requested
  • Define, implement and maintain
    production read only data strategy for business users
  • Solve database usage issues and any malfunctions
    and provide data management support to users
  • Design stable, reliable and effective databases based
    on business requirements and provide support to optimize and maintain
    in-life systems
  • Write/Review/Optimize query performance and optimizing
    SQL code
  • Work with application developers to create and support
    optimized queries
  • Create database triggers, table indexes and programming
    views, stored procedures, and functions
  • Research
    and suggest new database products, services and protocols for cost and
    performance optimization
  • Review and revise database designs and ensures that all
    technical and business requirements are met
  • Perform database testing to ensure performance is met
    and compare with expected results. Provide support during the system
    implementation and production
  • Suggest new features, coding techniques and reference
    material. Identify gaps in scripts and procedures



Skills:

Education &
Experience:


  • Bachelors Degree
    in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field; equivalent
    work experience may be considered
  • At least 10+ years of experience
    with programming languages such as PL/SQL coding and strong SQL query
    optimization
  • Strong hands on experience in
    administering, managing and tuning databases
  • Sound
    understanding of data and schema standards and concepts
  • Several years of experience with AWS Oracle RDS, Postgres and other open source
    databases
  • Experience
    and knowledge on Amazon Aurora is a plus
  • Experience with design and implementation of enterprise
    data systems and data architectures
  • Experience in managing and supporting production data
    systems with several terabytes size
  • Demonstrable
    directly-related experience of database design and development in a
    Scientific Research & Development environment
  • Strong team
    working skills applied to both internal development, supplier augmentation
    and third party supplier services
  • Detailed
    understanding of the technical architecture and software components that
    make up the applications
  • Sound
    understanding of the agile development lifecycle particularly continuous
    integration and delivery CI/CD
  • Strong understanding of
    testing methods and evidence of building solutions in way which allow them
    to be tested continuously as code is added or changed DevOps
  • ETL knowledge
    Informatica or Pentaho is an advantage
