Position Summary

Reporting to the Canadian Sales Manager, this role will reach business targets through effective management of designated territories and physical visits to customer sites. This individual will develop ongoing, profitable relationships with customers and continually maintain a professional image of the company. They will also be involved in field trials of Stokes product.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the sales and service of Stokes Seeds products
  • Lead the growth of Stokes Seeds’ network of customers in the territory
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to develop the customer base, serve existing customers, and attract new customers
  • Establish, maintain, and collect data from product trials
  • Responsible for trialing of pre-commercial products and identifying proper fits for the territory
  • Work with breeder-producer suppliers in identifying new products and marketplace opportunities
  • Assist in events in the territory (tradeshows, field days, sales meetings, etc.)
  • Responsible for the brokering of vegetative cuttings to greenhouses in the territory
  • Maintain expense budgets in alignment with regional objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in sales and marketing
    • Vegetable seed industry preferred
  • Agricultural experience/background
  • Basic understanding of the growing, packing, and marketing of commercial produce
  • Must be fluent in English, speaking and writing
  • A proven customer relationship builder with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Professional and assertive with strong communication skills; verbal, written, and active listening
  • Excellent sales skills; gains trust, establishes business objectives, identifies customer needs, explores solutions, develops action plans, and overcomes objections through negotiation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office application
  • Ability to utilize available technology to enhance sales and service effectiveness
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs
  • Ability to operate an automobile and hold a valid driver’s license
