Spectrum Technologies develops and markets affordable plant measurement solutions to the agricultural, turf and horticultural markets throughout the world. The company’s technology is focused on four primary product groups which include 1) Weather and Environmental Monitoring, 2) Nutrient Management, 3) Plant Health, and 4) Soil & Water Measurement. Spectrum has over 14,000 customers in over seventy-five counties worldwide.

 

Position

This position will report to the President & CEO and will be responsible for developing and growing Spectrum’s domestic and international revenues. The focus is 1) exceeding sales targets for Spectrum’s domestic and international business, 2) growth and development of sales team members, 3) improve the quality of on-site distributor/customer visits and all tradeshow activities 4) ensure sales metrics are executed on a monthly basis, 5) execute a customized sales process for each market segment and 6) ensuring each sales team member has sufficient sales and product training to be successful.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs all members of the sales team; perpetuate a sales focused culture driven by results
  • Customize, implement and track individual sales processes for each business segment
  • Provide daily coaching to individual sales team members and provide constructive feedback on improvement areas to maintain consistency in customer communication
  • Improve quality of daily sales activities; phone calls, emails, trade show activities, customer visits. 
  • Create and execute training plans for the following areas: sales fundamentals, product knowledge, trade show effectiveness and distributor/customer visit protocol
  • Ensure customer activities and follow up actions are documented accurately within the CRM system
  • Develop, maintain and grow relationships with key industry contacts
  • Travel with each team member to provide coaching on trade show or customer visit activities
  • Support product launches of new products, develop plans to speed product adoption through target customers
  • Understand and respond to trends, markets and products; voice industry needs and gaps internally
  • Develop segment sales goals, annual business plans and monthly action plans
  • Review sales pipeline data regularly and provide revenue forecasts by segment
  • Weekly reporting of all activities related to the Sales Team
  • Represent the company at select trade shows or association events
  • Manage the budget for the Sales Team

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MS or MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing and growing a sales team. 
  • Relevant Industry experience and understanding of key markets preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years successful, results driven sales or sales management experience
  • Demonstrated skills in achieving sales goals to end customer and through distributors
  • Prior experience managing and motivating sales teams
  • Ability to understand complex or technical concepts and communicate them to customers
  • Ability to effectively implement sales strategies
  • Ability to interface and demonstrate leadership both internally and externally
  • High-energy self-starter as well as collaborative team player
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate cross functionally within company and with customers
  • Demonstrated commitment to building strong business relationships with customer
  • Effective, strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of accountability
  • Candidate should possess strong analytical skills, critical thinking skills and problem solving skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software is required.
  • Travel up to 40% with sales team.  This is not a position for working remotely.

Compensation:  $120,000 to $150,000 base salary; 30% bonus/variable
