Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and relationship-focused Forage & Turf Sales Representative to support and grow our existing dealer network within a defined territory. This role is a blend of field-based relationship-building and in-office support, offering variety and autonomy. The successful candidate will work closely with dealers to understand their customers' needs, provide product recommendations, and stay ahead of industry trends—including the growing demand for cover crops.
As a Sales Representative, you lead all aspects of the business relationship with our dealers and are accountable for generating revenue for our forage & turf division. You are a professional sales specialist who understands the value of the products and services that Speare Seeds provides to our customers and can communicate that to them.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective dealers and customers translating to sales for the company.
- Provide agronomic and turf product recommendations and technical support based on customer needs and regional conditions.
- Educate dealers and end users on forage and turf seed options, mixtures, maintenance, and new product developments; provide training / product presentations to promote awareness of our products.
- Conduct field visits, attend customer meetings, host field days or training sessions as needed, and participate in trade shows or industry events.
- Helping to manage and grow our portfolio of products.
- Stay current with industry trends, product innovations, and competitive offerings.
- Stay informed about forage, turf, and cover crop trends to identify growth opportunities.
- Identifying opportunities for forage and turf customers to help them succeed in their sales of products.
- Managing accounts to benefit of customer and Speare Seeds.
- Under the guidance of the Sales and Marketing Manager, develop, update, and communicate customer-based sales plans.
- Work collaboratively with the internal team to support logistics, marketing efforts, and customer service.
- Monitor territory sales performance and provide regular updates and insights to the sales team.
- Actively participate in team sales meetings; contribute innovative ideas for the group's benefit; look for new opportunities in the marketplace; and participate in developing the forecast for program offerings.
- Work with out of province dealers in the Eastern Canada via email, phone and site visits bi-annually.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education or training in Business, Sales or Agriculture or related field (preferred but not required).
- Sales experience or strong customer service background with a proven ability to build relationships.
- Knowledge of forage and/or turfgrass seed or willingness to learn quickly with provided training.
- Willingness to travel throughout a defined territory including Eastern Canada.
- Ability to balance time between field visits and in-office responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills; customer-first mindset.
- Proven time management, organizational and leadership skills.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently or as part of a team and manage a defined territory.
- Proficient computer skills in all Office 365 programs and tools.
- Positive attitude and willingness to accept responsibility.
- Self-motivated and willing to take on a challenge.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to lift 55 lb.
- Valid drivers' license.

Position Detail:
- Time travelling and in office will be split approximately 80/20.
- Speare Seeds' operating hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
- This role requires travel throughout Eastern Canada, a valid driver's license and passport are required.
