As we expand, we're looking for a Packhouse Manager to join us on this exciting journey and play a pivotal role in the future of Rombola Family Farms team based in Nericon NSW. The Packhouse Manager is responsible for the day to day packhouse operations and will work collaboratively with the Rombola Family Farms supply chain team. This is an intensive melon and pumpkin enterprise, which requires a manager who is motivated, hands on and able to work under pressure.

 

Key operational accountabilities include:

  • Design and implementation of the packing shed workforce and shift plans.
  • Effective and efficient operation of all production lines, including medium and high care value add production lines.
  • Liaising with other members of the supply chain and production teams to prioritise, plan and implement daily and weekly packing schedules.
  • Direct the packing shed workforce of up to 100 team members to specific tasks based on skill and reliability, in line with the packing schedules.
  • Monitor packing shed staff competency and performance, taking action to address short comings.
  • Work hand in hand with maintenance personnel to ensure packing shed operations have the highest possible equipment availability day to day.
  • Manage inventory of packing shed consumables in line with target stock levels.
  • Generate, analyse, share and act on the agreed operational performance metrics for the packing shed.
  • Taking decisive steps to ensure daily productivity metrics are meet.
  • Ensuring that OH&S obligations are implemented and adhered to by team members.
  • Maintaining the packing shed cleanliness, adhering to domestic and international food safety standards including HARPS and Global Gap.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development opportunities.
  • Driving all aspects of continuous improvement projects within the packhouse.

 

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Proven ability and minimum 5 years’ relevant experience and a track record of success in achieving production targets.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to pivot to daily production demands that arise
  • Demonstrated ability to develop work plans and achieve the goals of these work plans.
  • Good with numbers: analysing cost per unit produced and input into Capital Expenditure that may reduce cost per unit.
  • Relationship management skills with the ability to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • People manager, negotiator and all-round good person that will thrive working in a proactive team (must be a team player).
  • Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
  • Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.
  • A current driver’s licence.
