ABOUT THE ROLE:
PRT is seeking a Forest Nursery Specialist. The position will participate in the management and production of 24+ million containerized seedlings and 35+ million bareroot forest seedlings annually. Activities will include seed stratification and treatment, planting, irrigation, fertilizer / chemical application, and harvesting. PRT's seedlings are positioned to be the highest quality in the industry and are distributed across the Southeast. Our efforts are focused on high quality seedlings with good survivability and growth characteristics second to none. In this position, your primary focus will be the bareroot seedlings but will share time with the container seedling crop as well.
You will work on a team of four Nursery Technicians, Nursery Supervisor, and report to the Nursery Manager. Each season will bring new goals and challenges. During the spring, you'll be focused on field preparation and planting. During the summer, your efforts will shift to growing, fertilizing, and irrigating. In the fall and winter, you will be involved in the harvest of our seedlings.
